A man was taken to hospital after his car smashed into a garden wall in Coventry.

Police and paramedics were called to Tamworth Road in Keresley just before midnight last night.

A Seat Leon had gone over a roundabout at the junction of The Scotchill and clipped a tree before knocking down part of a brick wall belonging to homeowner Satpal Chera.

The driver had suffered injuries to his face and arm and was taken to Coventry’s University Hospital.

Satpal, 39, who lives in the bungalow with his wife, mum and three children, said: “What the car has done is gone over the roundabout, hit a tree and stuff and landed in our wall.

“If the wall wasn’t there our bedroom is on the ground floor. It’s a bungalow.”

Sati, who runs a printing business, added: “As I was ringing 999 a police car was going past. I think the police car was chasing it?

“They told me the guy was uninsured.”

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “He self-extracated but not sure how - he had face and arm injuries.

“He was given pain relief at the scene, his wounds were dressed and he was taken to University Hospital in Coventry.”

West Midlands Police have been contacted for a comment.

The crash came just days after a double-decker bus crashed into a house in Keresley Road, Keresley.

And in November a stolen Mercedes crashed into the same roundabout as the Seat Leon.
