A school bus has demolished a wall at Bedworth Leisure Centre, causing swimming pool water to flood out.

The number 813 service operated by Phoenix Coaches on behalf of Warwickshire County Council was involved in the incident at 12.05pm today.

The bus serves the villages of Bramcote, Shilton and Bulkington, as well as schools in Nuneaton.

No children were on board at the time, but the driver was waiting for children from Parkgate Primary School in Coventry to finish a swimming class.

A Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "At 12.05pm Bedworth received a call to a bus that had a collision in to the side of Bedworth Leisure Centre and water from the pool was flooding out.

"Crews cordoned off the area with help of the police and an ambulance was requested for the driver of the coach as a precaution.

"Crews have made effect to reduce the flooding and structural engineers are working the make the building safe."
