A driver who hit a pram on a pedestrian crossing in Coventry is being sought by police.

The pram was being pushed across Quinton Road, Cheylesmore, by the child's mother when it was struck by a tan-coloured car at 1919 BST on 22 May.

The impact broke the pram but the woman's son was not hurt. The driver stopped briefly to apologise but left no details, police said.

A black cab driver also stopped and shouted at the driver for driving away.

Pc Angelo Cavaliere, of West Midlands Police, said: "This incident has really shaken up the young mum involved and left her in considerable shock.

"Fortunately her young son was unharmed but we would appeal to anyone who saw the incident to call us."

The driver is described as being of Asian appearance with short black hair and a goatie beard, police said.

He was wearing a khaki hooded jacket with blue jeans and had two passengers in the car who were also of Asian appearance, one of whom was wearing a hat.
