More than half of all motorists checked were going over the speed limit
ONE driver was caught doing more the fifty miles an hour close to a Coventry school.
The shocking detail was revealed by police after they held a speedwatch event in Allesley Old Road on Friday.
They speed checked 693 drivers - with more than half exceeding the speed limit.
Just 41 per cent of motorists were at or below the 30mph limit on the notorious residential road - used by many as a cut through to avoid the traffic in Holyhead Road.
A total of 415 were over the speed limit, with one driver doing 52mph.
People caught driving above the speed limit are sent a letter warning them about their conduct. Repeat or excessive offenders could be prosecuted though.
Police took to social media to say the driver caught doing 52mph will definitely be contacted by them.

I smell a rat here.
If this was carried out by the police, why weren't the errant drivers 'nicked' at the time?
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
