Woman posing as restaurant manager stole cash from Las Iguanas

A woman pretending to be a restaurant manager brazenly stole cash from the safe at Las Iguanas in Coventry.

Police have only just released details of the incident which at the new venue in Cathedral Lanes, Broadgate, on September 26.

A CCTV image has been released of a woman officers would like to speak to.

According to West Midlands Police , staff at the Latin-American restaurant received a call from someone claiming to be from head office saying that an area manager would be coming to collect their takings.

Later that day, a woman turned up claiming to be the area manager and she was handed money from the safe.

Details on how much money was stolen have not been disclosed.

It was later discovered that the woman did not work for the national restaurant chain.

Las Iguanas has been contacted for comment.
