Met Office forecasters are warning of plunging temperatures with overnight frosts
Forecasters have put out a level two cold weather alert for Coventry and Warwickshire for the first three days of 2017.
There is a 70 per cent chance of cold air from the north causing temperatures to drop below 2 degrees, wintry showers and overnight frosts according to the Met Office.
Forecasters expect the conditions to last from new year’s day until Wednesday January 4 when the temperature is expected to rise.
The cold weather alert covers a large part of the UK including Coventry and Warwickshire.
Dr John Linnane, Warwickshire County Council’s Director of public health, said: “Be a good neighbour, check in on friends, relatives and neighbours who may be vulnerable to the cold. Make sure you have enough food and medications when the weather gets colder.”
