Six cars were stolen in just half an hour on Tuesday morning - as owners left them defrosting outside properties.

Coventry and Warwickshire saw temperatures plummet on Monday night, with parts of the region colder than both Iceland and Finland.

The mercury will once again plunge on Tuesday night, forecasters are predicting, with police warning car owners to be vigilant in the face of morning frosts.

Officers have warned people not to leave their cars unattended while they were defrosting them.

Police have reported as many as SIX vehicles were reported stolen in just 30 minutes as drivers warmed their cars - the equivalent of one every FIVE minutes.

The Central Motorway Police Group tweeted: “Seriously!!! That’s 6 cars stolen in last 30 mins just because people have left them unattended to defrost."

They added: "Come on people, don’t do it!!”

I always thought it was an offence to leave a car unattended whilst running?

I hope that their insurances don't pay out as it's nothing more than barmy to leave your car with the keys in.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
