Delays after lorry gets stuck under railway bridge near Nuneaton
Driver arrested after lorry bridge drama near Nuneaton
A LORRY driver has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after his lorry became wedged under a bridge, causing traffic chaos across Nuneaton and Atherstone.
Warwickshire Police has revealed that a 45-year-old man, who has not been identified, is being questioned following the incident at the bridge that links Nuneaton Road, Atherstone Road and Woodford Lane this morning (Tuesday, November 15).
Police were called at 9.10am to reports that the large lorry was stuck underneath the bridge, and that the bridge itself had suffered structural damage.
They immediately closed off all roads around the bridge, causing further traffic chaos in the area and they remain closed for several hours.
The roads were re-opened again at midday but traffic congestion remains heavy in the area.
It was not just traffic on the roads that were affected by the lorry becoming stuck, so were train services, with commuters facing heavy delays throughout this morning and into the afternoon.
Why has the name on the side of the lorry been blotted out?
