Police were called to Pool Meadow bus station in Coventry in a row over pushchairs.

An altercation between a bus driver and a mum with a pram is said to have caused “chaos” at 6.30pm on Wednesday.

West Midlands Police told the Telegraph that officers had been called to the bus station because a woman had become aggressive with the driver when he asked her to fold away her pram before getting on board.

Their log said that the bus driver told them that there was no room for any unfolded buggies in the designated zone, but folded pushchairs would have been permitted.

A spokesman said : “We were called at 6.30 last night.

“The bus driver had got a problem with a passenger who was unhappy.

“He said that she couldn’t come on with the pushchair.”

She added: “No offence actually occurred.”

National Express Coventry explained that the company’s policy on pushchairs was available online.

She said that on each bus, two small unfolded buggies can be stored in the designated area on the lower floor.

Folded pushchairs can be carried too if there is enough space, as long as they do not obstruct other passengers.

If a person in a wheelchair, disabled buggy or mobility scooter is boarding the bus, then passengers with pushchairs would be asked to vacate the space.

They confirmed that they are investigating the incident.

She said: “We are investigating an alleged complaint in relation to the 6A service at Pool Meadow Bus Station yesterday evening.”
