I don't listen to the radio very much but when I do I use the radio channels on the Freview tuner. When the council built the Spon End estate in the 1960s it made absolutely no provision for VHF radio reception even though the system had already been in use for ten years. UHF televison reception was also so poor that the entire distribution system had to be replaced recently before anyone could watch digital channels.

An anomoly which stil remains is that surround-sound receivers of the kind used for home cinema setups continue to be sold with FM receivers built-in even though the analogue system is due to be phased-out shortly.
