An Iranian man who has twice failed to get in to the country has been found by police wandering alongside the M6 near Coventry.

The man was reported to police just after 9pm on Monday night for walking along the side of the busy motorway.

A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said a passing motorist called them to the scene, which was between junction three for Coventry and Corley services.

The Iranian had previously tried to enter the country twice from France before and had failed - before turning up on the M6.

The man was arrested and later detained by immigration.

He will go to a detention centre to pursue removal or claim asylum.

A spokesperson for the Home Office said: “A 29-year-old man who presented himself as Iranian was arrested by police officers on suspicion of entering the UK illegally. The man is currently in police custody and will be transferred to immigration detention for his case to be progressed.

“Where someone is found to have no right to remain in the UK, we will take action to remove them.”

Funny how the Telegraph missed the coach load with trailer attached pouring out on to the Walsgrave Tesco car park a couple of months back and the manager of Tesco told them to get back in as it was not allowed or he would have to call the police.
