Two stolen dogs found at traveller site after dog walking van stolen in Bell Green

Investigations into how the dogs ended up there are ongoing

Three dogs have been reunited with their owners after a van they were in was stolen in Bell Green yesterday.

The dogs, including a one-year-old springer spaniel, were in the back of a van which was stolen at lunchtime yesterday .

Police launched an investigation to track down the dogs - and the van - and the vehicle was found just 25 minutes after the original theft in Flowerdale Drive, Stoke Heath .

The dogs remained missing though and police launched eventually launchedan investigation.

One of the pets was released but owners looking for their missing dogs began to look at claims they were on a travellers site near Nuneaton.

It’s understood they have since been found on the Griff site, near Bermuda Village.

A spokesman from West Midlands Police said: “We were called a 1.50pm yesterday afternoon to say that a van had been stolen and it was full of dogs.

“The van was recovered within 25 minutes of the call in Flowerdale Drive. Three dogs were still missing.

“They have been found this morning.”

According to the spokesmen, West Midlands Police have been dealing with the initial thefts.

They have had support from Warwickshire Police , who dealt with a row between travellers and people looking for the dogs this morning.

A Warwickshire Police spokesman said: “We were called to the Griff caravan park this morning. We were called to an altercation.

“We were called at approximately 7.40am to reports of an altercation at the Griff caravan park. It was believed to be verbal and no injuries were recorded.”

At the moment it isn’t known if any arrests have been made, but investigations are currently ongoing.

Police release 21-year-old man on bail after a van and six dogs stolen in Coventry

A MAN has been bailed after six dogs were stolen from a van in the Stoke area of Coventry on Wednesday (September 13) at approximately 1:45pm.

The van was stolen from Tackford Road, Stoke, and police officers arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle – though he has since been bailed.

The van and four of the dogs were found shortly after in Thorney Road.

The other two dogs have also been reunited with their owners.
