Stoke crash: Biker taken to hospital with multiple injuries

A motorcyclist suffered multiple injuries after a collision with a car in Coventry.

The 28-year-old biker was anaesthetised at the scene following the incident in Mellowdew Road, Stoke, near to the junction with Hermitage Road, at 4.40pm on Monday.

He was then taken to University Hospital, in Walsgrave, for treatment with West Midlands Police saying they believed he had suffered serious head, leg and arm injuries.

A spokesman for the force said that he remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Mellowdew Road was closed off for a number of hours following the collision between the motorbike and a grey Ford Kuga.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “When crews arrived they found the motorbike rider in a semi-conscious state.

“He had suffered multiple injuries and was assessed and treated by ambulance staff and the doctor.

“The man was anaesthetised at the scene before being taken on blue lights to University Hospital in Coventry with the doctor travelling on the ambulance.

“The driver of the car, a 33-year-old woman, was also assessed at the scene but had no obvious injuries and was discharged.”

Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them on 101, quoting log 1683 of August 8.
