Police search for teenager in connection with "serious sexual assault" in Coventry city centre

Police have launched an appeal to try and track down a man they want to speak to in connection with a serious sexual assault.

Officers say 18-year-old Hashmat Saafi is suspected of attacking a woman in Smithford Way, city centre , 15 May.

Police say it is thought he is still in the area.

He is described as Asian, 5ft 8ins tall, with a slim, athletic build.

He has short dark brown hair and a small goatee, brown eyes and a two-inch scar on his left forearm.

Detectives are continuing to search for Saafi, carrying out numerous inquiries.

Anyone who has seen Saafi is asked to call Det Con Rebecca Jones from the sexual offences team on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
