A double drugs raid has taken place around a Nuneaton community to catch known dealers.

Reacting to concerns raised by the community, members of the Nuneaton Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) carried out the stings in what has been described as the central area of town.

They undertook the first raid early yesterday morning (Thursday, June 16) at an address in Princess Avenue.

Having bashed the door down, the team found a 'quantity' of drugs and they were seized, alongside other items.

They also arrested a man, who has not been identified, and investigations are ongoing.

The second raid took place this morning (Friday, June 17), this time at a property in Meadow Court.

Once again, the team searched the whole property and a wanted woman, who has not been identified, was arrested and is due to be sent back to prison.

Inspector Dean Reid, who lead the SNT operation, said that the two raids were undertaken in response to tip-offs received from the community.

"We are committed to responding to key community concerns," Insp Reid said.

" We will act on information received in a positive manner, and aspire to deal positively with information received.

"We know that residents want us to take action to remove drugs from our communities. We can do it by working together, with agencies, and people in the communities themselves.

"After each warrant we had local neighbourhood teams patrolling and speaking to residents to explain what had taken place and why there was so much police activity in the area.

"We want people to feel safe, as well as actually be safe."
