A dragon is on the loose in Coventry - although its a lot smaller and less dangerous than the type you might expect to see in Game of Thrones.

Bob, a two-year-old bearded dragon, has wandered off from his home in Whoberley after being allowed outside to enjoy the sunshine.

His disappearance has left his family devastated and they have issued a plea for anyone who comes across him to return the missing reptile.

Owner, Malcolm Ward, said the pet had gone missing in the Gorseway area of Whoberley on Sunday while he was in the garden with daughter Jessica Smith, 13.

He said: “My daughter was playing with him in the garden and she turned her back for a second and he’d gone.

“He likes the sun and regularly comes out and has a stroll around the house. He’s obviously decided to go for a walk. The area around there is quite overgrown so it’s difficult to find him.”

He added: “My daughter is quite upset, she’s an animal lover and has other pets. She just wants to find him.

“He’s got a little personality and will knock on the glass when he wants to come out and sit and watch TV with you.”

Malcolm also said there was nothing to fear from the bearded dragon, and that the name of the species suggests they are more ferocious than they actually are.

He said: “Bearded dragons won’t bite. If anyone finds him, just pick him up and wrap him in a towel and we’ll come and collect him.”

If anyone finds Bob the bearded dragon, they should call Malcolm on 07872 022092.
