A dog in need of a home is being overlooked because of its hypnotic eyes.

Lively husky Floyd is friendly and loves to play, but staff at the Dogs Trust Kenilworth think his different coloured eyes are putting people off.

They think he looks too much like Kaa, the python from Rudyard Kipling’s the Jungle Book.

The three-year-old dog has been at the trust’s kennels in Honiley for a month after his previous owners could no longer look after him.

Lots of other dogs which arrived at the same time or afterwards have been chosen by people visiting the kennels in search of a pet, but Floyd has been overlooked.

He needs a home with only adults and no other pets, and likes lots of treats and lots of games of chase.

Sarah Graham, spokesperson for the Dogs Trust, said: “We are concerned that Floyd may end up being overlooked due to his unusual eye-catching appearance - he bears a striking resemblance to Kaa, the hypnotic–eyed snake in the Jungle Book.”

And Dogs Trust supporter relations officer Helen Barlow said: “Even with his striking good looks and bouncy personality Floyd is often passed by despite his efforts to catch the eye of potential owners.

“He needs a patient adult owner who will give him plenty of time to help him settle in to family life.

“This energetic boy is looking for an active adult home and would prefer to be king of the jungle as the only pet in home.”

Floyd is one of a long list of dogs at Dogs Trust Kenilworth looking for new homes.

As well as other huskies there are border collies, dobermanns, rottweilers and jack russells which their owners can no longer look after.

Finding a home for Floyd is not the first difficult rehoming challenge the charity has faced.

Nine years ago a man handed in two creatures he thought were abandoned puppies.

They turned out to be fox cubs and had to be passed on to Warwickshire Wildlife Trust.

Hypnotic-eyed husky still in need of a loving new home

A homeless husky is still looking for a new owner despite captivating the nation with its hypnotic eyes.

Three-year-old Floyd has been at the Dogs Trust Kenilworth in Honiley for nearly a month waiting for a new family to take him in.

Since the Telegraph reported on Floyd’s tragic story, offers of a new home have poured in from across the country. However, the lively canine has still not been adopted, as a suitable home has not been found.

A spokesman for the Dogs Trust said: “It looks like he has not been rehomed yet. They have to speak to a training behaviour advisor before can be rehomed.”

She added: “He’s still waiting for a perfect home - there’s just not a suitable home yet.”

According to the charity, Floyd needs to be in a home with only adults and no other pets. He also needs a lot attention and exercise.

If you think you can give Floyd a loving home, please call the centre on 0300 303 0292. Floyd is on the Dogs Trust website here.

You need to be very aware of what you're committing to taking on one of these. They certainly aren't the right breed for the first-time owner.
