Machetes found as four teenagers are arrested in Holbrooks

Machetes were recovered after four teenagers were arrested in Coventry.

Police were called to reports of men being seen with machetes in Leyburn Close, Holbrooks, at about 1.30pm on Sunday.

A machete was recovered from a garage roof and another from a car.

Four teenagers were arrested and have been charged with possession of a knife blade or sharply pointed article.

Computer engineer Batusjan Sothilingam, 18, of Aldbourn Road, Radford; unemployed Athies Balenthiran, 19, of Stadium Close, Holbrooks; unemployed Gajan Sivaguru, 18, of Morland Road, Holbrooks, and student Guled Awale, 19, of Wyrley Road, Radford are due to appear before Coventry Magistrates Court on February 1.

I find this very disturbing. So young. :(

I only hope they get substantial sentences. - I won't hold my breath.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

Teenagers given unpaid work after confessing to having machetes in Coventry

Four teenagers who admitted possessing machetes in Coventry have been sentenced at magistrates court.

The group were arrested and charged after police were called to Leyburn Close, in Holbrooks, on Sunday January 17.

Officers recovered a machete from a garage roof and another from a car.

Computer engineer Batusjan Sothilingam, 18, of Aldbourn Road, Radford; unemployed Athies Balenthiran, 19, of Stadium Close, Holbrooks; unemployed Gajan Sivaguru, 18, of Morland Road, Holbrooks; and student Guled Awale, 19, of Wyrley Road, Radford, all pleaded guilty to possession of a knife blade or sharply pointed article.

They were each handed a community order until 2017 with 60 hours unpaid work and each ordered to pay £50 court costs and a £60 victim surcharge at Coventry Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
