Talking to a mate of mine who lives in the area of this new emporium and he was saying they will do good businness with what they sell and a friend of his says that for a sweetener to customers, Best Buy will part exchange any used TV's, computers,washing machines etc; and of course, the question came out of the woodwork "Do they part exchange on wives & girlfriends" but be interested to see this store when they open up in the West Mids.
Pollyanna,re your comment on the recession, I get around a bit in my job and I do not think that there is a shortage of money as ppl. must have some well stuffed mattresses in their homes and still like the comforts of life

Either that Angler or they go for the buy now pay later option - which I must be honest is something I've never done - if you can't afford it - save up for it - but I'm just an old-fashioned girl I guess.

Before 1962 retail prices were strictly controlled by manufacturers. Customer service was better, most products were made in Britain and there was full employment.

It's now become a vicious circle. People on low incomes are forced to look for the lowest prices which puts others out of work who are then forced to look for even lower prices and so on ad infinitum.

Pollyanna, never a truer statement , as this country is getting more like the USA ie watch when you are going through the checkout in a supermarket, how much plastic is used by customers
Talking to a bus driver in L'Pool and he said , that if he had not got credit cards, he would not be able furnish the basics for the family as the wages he gets is a pittance

I hope Best Buy follow their US model and open an online store. Coventrians are going to have to settle for e-commerce instead of real-commerce, just as we have for Waitrose (thanks to Ocado).
