More heavy rain is forecast for Coventry and Warwickshire on Wednesday.

Issuing a severe weather warning, the Met Office says a deluge will fall across the region over a 24-hour period starting at around 8am.

The yellow weather warning for rain, which covers most of the Midlands, is in place until 9am on Thursday.

Most areas are told to expect between 15mm and 30mm of rain, however some places could see as much as 40-70mm. There is also a chance of some localised flooding.

A spokesman for the Met Office said: “Persistent and at times heavy rain is expected to spread from south to north during Wednesday.

“Strong and gusty winds are also expected, with gales in exposure.

“Rain should ease from the southwest later on Wednesday, but will persist across the north of the warning area into Thursday.

“Some localised flooding is possible from fast responding water courses and standing water, this perhaps disrupting travel.”
