Drugs gang jailed after surveillance in UK and Holland

A network of drug smugglers, who buried their goods in underground safes, have been jailed.

The eight men, from the West Midlands, Kent and Lincolnshire, were arrested following a joint operation with police in the UK and Holland.

They were filmed burying purpose-built safes which could store up to 140 kilos of drugs.

All eight admitted the charges against them at Brimingham Crown Court and were jailed for 44 years between them.

Anthony Spencer, 61, of Keresley, Coventry, who police said was head of the network was jailed for five years and three months.

He pleaded guilty to conspiracies to supply and import amphetamine and cannabis.

Derelict site

The court heard two of the buried safes was found at his Hall Hill Cottage home, another at a derelict site in Castle Road, Nuneaton, and one in the garden of a house in Synkere Close, Coventry.

The other seven men pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to import and supply either amphetamine or cannabis.

They are:

• Christopher Pollock, 37, of Parkview Close, Exhall, Coventry. Jailed for three years and three months.

• Jogendranth Rajcoomar, 57, a former prison governor of Synkere Close, Exhall, Coventry. Jailed for three years and nine months.

• Sunil Rajcoomar, 25, of no fixed abode. Jailed for two years.

• Michael McGlinchey, 58, of Hen Lane, Coventry. Sentenced to three years, two months.

• John Mitchell, 40, of Chichester Road, Greenhithe, Kent. Sentenced to four years, three months.

• Mark Adderley, 52, of Court Oak Road, Harborne, Birmingham. Jailed for three years, nine months.

• Stephen Lismore, 41, of Brittain Drive, Grantham, Lincolnshire. Sentenced to three years, two months.
