Work is to start on a new package of road improvements in Coventry city centre - but it will mean more disruption.
The latest plans will see work carried out near the Whittle Arch, in Millennium Place, and Fairfax Street.
They’re set to cause disruption for pedestrians, drivers and people using the buses.
The council received a £1.5 million cash boost in the form of a European Regional Development Growth grant and money from the Regional Growth Fund.
The work, which will begin in mid-August and take around 16 weeks to complete, will include:
• realigning kerbs at Whittle Arch and the entrance to Pool Meadow opposite Priory Street,
• creating a wider pedestrian section under Whittle Arch,
• a new pedestrian guard rail and improved paving at Whittle Arch,
• levelling the area outside the Britannia Hotel and a new zebra crossing near to the hotel,
• a new pedestrian refuge at the Fairfax Street entrance to Pool Meadow.
The council says that throughout construction there will be changes to the road layout with lane and road closures along with alterations to pedestrian routes expected on occasions.
The project follows improvements made to other areas of Coventry city centre such as Broadgate, Council House Square and Gosford Street.
Traffic is already being diverted as work is carried out in Corporation St and Upper Well Street.
