Armed robbers have targeted a shop in Coventry this morning.

Police were called to the One Stop in Parkhill Drive, Eastern Green, just before 9am.

Fortunately, no-one was injured in the robbery.

It’s not known yet what weapons were used or whether anyone has been arrested.

On Facebook one woman wrote: “I dropped daughter at nursery then needed the shop. As I walked round I saw the police cars and my first thoughts were if they’ve been done again, and then got round to find it locked up and surrounded by police.

“Doesn’t seem to even matter to the robbers the time of day now, you’d think the staff would at least be safe at rush hour.”

The shutters are currently down at the shop.

Staff at a nearby salon said they didn’t hear or see anything, but said they had been told that armed robbers had struck.

Police are parked to the rear of the building while initial enquiries take place.

The same shop was only targeted a few months ago when raiders brandishing a machete made off with cash.

Machete raiders barged into the shop at 10.30pm on November 20.

One of the gang, who trashed the store and threatened staff, was armed with a machete.

It was one of a series of similar raids on shops around Coventry and Warwickshire within a few weeks.
