Coventry airport is to close with immediate effect, making 70 people redundant.

An airport spokesman said: "The board and shareholders of West Midlands International Airport Ltd have made the decision to close Coventry airport with immediate effect."

West Midlands International airport faced a winding-up order at the High Court tomorrow.

The airport used to host Thomsonfly, but since November 2008 has only handled freight and business aviation.

Coventry Airport was acquired in January 2006 by CAFCO-C - a joint venture between Howard Holdings and the Convergence International Airports Organisation.

I hope that the money grabbing residents of Baginton are happy with 70 staff being made redundant just before Xmas and also the politicing that enforced the closure. :fuming:

Great Xmas present for the workers isn't it? My heart goes out to every last one of them.

It all seems to have boiled over very quickly; I somehow don't think we have heard all that there is to this yet.

What a shame a great Airport for Coventry.
Feel sorry for the workers.

Looks like people with money as usual win again ,and xxxx everyone else.

I hope all these people are very proud of themselves by destroying Coventry, bit by bit since 2004, for there own political Bullshit.

I can gaurantee you all one thing, if it is run by an agency then Cllr Foster and his cronies would of been estatic, there would of been no cuts anywhere, the only cuts come against the old/disabled and so called vunerable people like myself.

I am unsure if its called Capital venture Politics
