Police were called to Club M in Hertford Place, in the city centre, shortly before 2.45am today after the bouncer was stabbed in his side.

The incident happened after he had spotted some men acting suspiciously in the smoking area outside the club.

When he asked them to leave the premises, a fight broke out and he was knifed in the side.

Fortunately police say the injury is not thought to be life-threatening.

The victim was taken to University Hospital, in Walsgrave, Coventry, where he was treated for a one-inch wound.

Three people were arrested after the incident but later released without charge, and police are now appealing for witnesses, particularly club goers, who may have seen the attack to come forward.

The incident comes exactly a year – almost to the hour – after a 25-year-old man from Bell Green was stabbed in the stomach outside Club M last New Year’s Eve.

West Midlands Police are appealing for witnesses to the latest stabbing.

Anyone with information about the incident who hasn’t already spoken to police is being asked contact them on 101.

Nobody at Club M was available to comment.
