'Action Comics' #1 breaks sales record

A copy of Action Comics #1 has sold at auction for a record $1.5 million (£995,000).

The comic - featuring the first appearance of Superman - sold from auction website ComicConnect, reports The Associated Press.

In February, another copy of Action Comics #1 broke the record when it sold for $1 million (£664,000).

Three days later, a copy of Detective Comics #27, in which Batman made his first appearance, sold for $1.075 million (£714,000).

Before these sales, the record had been set at $317,000 (£210,000) in 2009 for a copy of Action Comics #1.

A hundred copies of Action Comics #1 are thought to be in existence and, of those, only a handful are in good condition.

The comic had an original cover price of 10 cents (6p).
