A modern day lady Godiva staged an unusual protest yesterday - stripping off in Broadgate.

It’s not clear why the protester decided to bare all, but she was protecting some of her modesty with a sign complaining about taxes and cuts.

Police were called to the area after the protest began and they asked the woman to cover up.

One passer-by said: “It’s definitely not what I expected to see in Coventry city centre on a Saturday afternoon.

“She was just sat on the Godiva statue with this tiny purple horse toy and a sign.”

She made a valid point.

The 20 biggest corporations registered in the UK don't pay a single penny in Income Tax or Corporation Tax.

If they were forced to pay a Financial Transaction Tax equal to just 1% of their annual turnover the amount raised would be equal to all the Income Tax and Capital Gains Tax paid by every private individual in the country.
