A fire has gutted a house on a residential street in Warwickshire.

The blaze started at around eleven o’clock on Saturday morning on Tunnel Road, in Nuneaton.

Both floors of the house were engulfed by the flames and the roof space was also completely destroyed.

Two fire crews from Nuneaton were initially called to the fire, but it proved so intense that they called for additional support from colleagues in Coleshill and Bedworth as they battled the flames.

Due to the height of the fire, crews also called in a hydraulic platform from Coventry to help out.

Firefighters were forced to act swiftly at the semi-detached house to stop the flames spreading to the neighbouring building.

Crews have been back to visit the site to try and ensure the property is in a safe condition.

It is not thought anyone was injured.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, but police have been called in to investigate.
