About 100 homes in Coventry were left without power due to a "cable fault".
Western Power Distribution said it was first alerted to the problem - which affected Robin Hood Road, Euston Crescent and Mary Slessor Street in the Willenhall area - at about 05:00 BST.
The company restored power to 43 properties by using another source.
But a spokesman said a cable needed to be replaced before power at the remaining 55 homes could be restored and this might not be until 16:00 BST.
