A dog died and a motorist was seriously injured in a crash in Exhall yesterday.

The pet was out walking with its owner when it was hit by a car which then crashed into a tree.

It happened at the junction of School Lane and Bowling Green Lane at 10.50am.

Firefighters cut the roof and doors off the car to free the driver, a 28-year-old man, who was taken to hospital with “significant” leg injuries.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman added: “The car had also been in collision with a dog which had been out walking with its owner. Sadly, the dog died at the scene.”
