Mystery over when office will re-open
ROYAL mail bosses say they cannot say when Nuneaton's sorting office will re-open again.
It has been almost a month since the Church Street-based office was forced to close following fears about an asbestos outbreak.
Despite being given the all-clear from experts, after air tests taken at the site came back negative, the shutters still remain shut on the building.
Several unconfirmed reports have been made to the News about the future of the local facility. One rumour suggests that the sorting office will not open until March.
Another claim is that the sorting office will not actually re-open again.
The News contacted Royal Mail to see if any of the rumours are true.
A spokesperson said: "I can't comment on a re-opening timescale at the moment."
In the meantime, people who have undelivered post still have to travel to the office at Ibstock Road in Coventry. It is understood that talks are still on-going in relation to potentially providing a more local collection office.
Nuneaton MP Marcus Jones says he is still persuing bosses on it.
