John Byrne, aged 88, was last seen at his home in Loudon Avenue, Radford at 10pm on Wednesday night.

Police were told about his disappearance just after 8.30am today.

He is described as white, around 5ft 7ins tall, with collar length white hair and blue eyes. He is believed to be wearing a grey striped shirt, black trousers and black shoes.

Officers are currently following a number of lines of enquiry, including speaking to neighbours and family members, looking at CCTV footage and the force helicopter is helping with the search.

Inspector Gez Amadeo, from Coventry Police, said: “We are increasingly concerned for John’s welfare with every passing hour, he has been missing since last night and may be confused about where he is.

“It is likely that he is in the area local to where he is from and we would ask residents to take a look at the image and report any information or sightings to us.”

Anyone who has seen John or knows where he might be should call police on 101 or the charity Missing People on 116 000.
