Up to 135 houses could be built on former factory site...

UP to 135 houses could be built on a former factory site in Coventry.

Planning officers have recommended councillors approve an outline proposal to build the homes off Beake Avenue, in Whitmore Park.

Their report says: “The application is considered acceptable as re-use of the site for unrestricted employment use would cause unacceptable amenity problems for local residents.

“The proposal would provide a satisfactory residential environment for future occupiers whilst protecting the existing employment use on adjacent land. The proposal would not harm highway safety or remove important landscape features.”

Up to 34 trees would need to be removed for the plan to go ahead.

The applicants have agreed that 25 per cent of the homes would be used for affordable housing while they would also contribute £500 per home towards children’s play provision and education.
