Five youngsters and their four-legged friends have been crowned winners at the Crufts Dog Show.

The Coventry Kids team saw off challenges from other eight other teams across the country to storm their way to the junior flyball title.

The dog relay race sees canine competitors take it in turns to jump over a line of four hurdles to a box, collect a tennis ball and run back over the hurdles.

The team, which included Wyken brothers Adam and Luke Timbrell, picked up winners' medals despite having to cope with the drama of a broken box.

It meant the 15 and 13-year-olds saw their team go one better than last year, when they finished runners-up.

And they did it all with trusty dog Kayde, who is owned by their grandmother Eileen Durrans, of Parry Road.

It was a family affair for their teammates too, with Lincolnshire siblings Zoe, Kieran and Rebekah Tennant joined by Border Collie brothers Brae and Shimmer and sisters Lunar and Thistle.

Team captain Suzzanne Gladstone, of Farren Road, said: "I was always confident we had a good chance but when our box malfunctioned on one leg I started to worry.

"Luckily, the kids took it all in their stride and it turned out that was the only mistake the team made.

"Myself and the rest of the adults in the Coventry Racers Flyball Team could not be more proud of them."
