ROAD collisions and traffic gridlock have hit parts of Coventry and Warwickshire this morning after a sudden snowfall overnight.
The weather conditions are being blamed for a number of minor injuries and delays for commuters while Coventry City Council and the Highways Agency insist some roads had been gritted.
*Two lanes were closed on the M6 southbound between junction two and three due to a collision between an lorry which saw the car hit the central reservation.
A number of other vehicles were then caught up in the collision at 6.08am near junction two at Walsgrave but no-one was injured. All lanes were reopened by 8am but delays continued throughout the morning commute.
*At 6.26am there was also an pile-up near Rugby involving a number of vehicles between junction one and two on the northbound carriageway.
This saw two people taken to Coventry’s University Hospital to be treated for minor injuries and caused delays at the Catthorpe Interchange and on to the M1.
*A bus collided with a car in Daventry Road, Cheylesmore, at around 8.45am which saw the road blocked and led to delays. West Midlands Ambulance Service said no-one was hurt in the crash.
*Road works in Cheylesmore on the Leamington Road also contributed to queuing in to the city centre, where four way temporary traffic lights are in place at the junction with Daventry Road.
*An accident on the A46 at Binley Woods saw a lane closed and delays between TGI island and Tollbar Island while recovery work was underway. This caused delays on connecting roads including the A45 at Ansty.
*There was a standstill on the A46 through Kenilworth at around 9am from Stoneleigh to the junction with the A45. Tailbacks affected the A46 from the A452 Leamington Road junction to Festival Island in Coventry.
