Staff at a bookies in Coventry were attacked when three masked robbers stormed the shop.

They forced their way in to the branch of William Hill in Quinton Park, Cheylesmore, at 8.20pm on Tuesday.

The robbers threatened the two women who worked there before forcing them into a back office and kicking and punching them to the floor.

They couldn’t open the safe so grabbed cash from the tills instead before escaping. The two victims suffered minor injuries and were treated at the shop by paramedics.

Det Sgt Joel Mildinhall, from Force CID, said: “This was a violent robbery where two members of staff were beaten and left very shaken up, although fortunately they didn’t require hospital treatment.

“We are appealing to members of the public to help with our investigation and want to hear from anyone who saw three men hanging around in the area before the robbery.

“If you have any information, or saw anything suspicious in the area on Tuesday police contact us as soon as possible.” Anyone with information should call police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers, the independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
