Brown Hails 'Ambitious' Plan To Plug Deficit
Gordon Brown has defended what he called his "ambitious" plans to halve the deficit in four years - and vowed to keep spending in the meantime.
Returning from the EU summit in Brussels, Mr Brown hit out at the Conservatives for "talking down Britain".
He described the opposition as "unfair and wrong" after they warned the country could lose its triple-A credit rating.
He also rejected calls to cut spending after shadow chancellor George Osborne warned of a Greek-style debt crisis.
