The service will see customers pick up their shopping without having to leave their cars.

Bosses set it up with the aim of helping those who want their shopping packed but do not have time to wait at home for delivery.

They said it was hoped the service would prove popular with mums who have to deal with the school run.

Ian Crook, tesco.com's marketing director, said. "It offers a convenient solution to parents who want to avoid the challenge of shopping in a busy store with children in tow but can’t afford the time to stay in for the shopping to arrive at their door.

"We also expect it to help young professionals who want all the convenience of a pre-picked and packed shop but who cannot commit to waiting at home for delivery."

The supermarket giant claims it was the first to trial a drive-through at its stores back in 2010.

Store manager Owen Davies added: "We are very excited to be able to offer this new service to our customers.

"I speak to them every day about their shopping experience and this will now offer even more choice in how they buy their shopping."

Customers order their shopping online choosing the Click & Collect option and booking a two-hour collection slot.

They can then collect anytime within this two-hour window and collection slots are available seven days a week.
