Within a matter of days three felines went missing from the Manor Park Road and Earls Road area of Nuneaton.

Emily Osborne, one of the upset owners, said: “One cat going missing is upsetting for the owners, two is a coincidence, but three in such a short space of time is a mystery.

“We don’t know if they have been poisoned or taken. But if they have been poisoned there are no traces of bodies anywhere.”

This began a week ago and all of the owners have been putting up posters and searching the surrounding areas without avail.

Gatsby, a one-year-old black cat, did not return to his Manor Park Road-based home on Sunday, August 26.

Karenanne Herbert, Gatsby’s owner, thought it was very unusual and started looking for him.

On the Monday a neighbour from Earls Road discovered that her cat, Remus, had also disappeared.

Because of the sunnier weather, the pair thought that the cats could have been locked in a garden shed or outhouse by accident.

Leaflets were distributed to all the houses in the immediate area, but at the time of going to press there was still no sign of either cat.

Then, on Wednesday another cat, Charlie, who belongs to Caroline Osborne and daughter Emily, also of Manor Park Road, failed to return home.

Caroline was active in the searches for Gatsby and Remus as both of the cats would visit her garden to play with Charlie.

All three owners are now desperate to receive any information about the disappearance of the three cats.

Emily added: “Some worried residents have already decided to keep their cats in until the mystery is solved.

“We are appealing for help, but also want the chance to let other cat owners know that something is going on.

“All of the cats have been microchipped so vets can scan them and get all of our details.

“We would just like to know what has happened to them because it does seem very strange for three cats to disappear so close together.”

Warwickshire Police has been informed and have spoken to the families.

Animal Search UK has also been told and has been very helpful in advertising the cats disappearance and offering advice.

Emily said: “We would like to ask all local residents to please check their gardens, sheds and outbuildings to help us solve this mystery.”

Anyone who has any information about the cats going missing is asked to contact police on 01926 415 000 and quote incident number: 147 29/08/12.
