Nuneaton Town have announced that Ian Neale has stepped down as chairman of the football club.

Neale's decision has been described as to allow him time to focus on his business interests.

A Boro statement maintained that Neale would continue to be involved with the Blue Square Bet Premier club on a daily basis "to ensure Boro remain on a steady footing with supporters, sponsors and the community".

Vice chairman Neil Hodgson moves up into the role of acting chairman in the interim.

The composition of the board in terms of personnel remains unaffected by this decision.

Hodgson has been on the current board for around two years and stepped up to vice chairman last year after being a supporter of the club for more than 50 years on the terraces.

Hodgson said: "It's a pleasure and privilege to step up to the role of acting chairman of a club I have supported man and boy.

"I am more than willing to assist the club to allow Ian time to focus upon his core business activity."

Neale, who is also an associate director of Coventry City FC, has been at the helm at Boro since 2008.
