Cable thefts disrupt train services between Cov and Nuneaton

Postby dutchman » Fri Aug 24, 2012 11:00 am

DISRUPTION has been caused to train services between Coventry and Nuneaton this morning due to more suspected cable thefts.

All train services were suspended while workmen repaired the damaged area of line at Bedworth.

Network Rail said the cable damage had resulted in signal failures on the line.

The line has now been reopened.

The incident comes in the week four men were jailed for stealing 1,200 metres of railway cable in and around Nuneaton.

Warwickshire Justice Centre heard the four men had caused about 500 hours of delays to trains in the area between August 2010 and March 2011.
