Arbury Hall game and country fair cancelledAn annual country fair in Warwickshire has been cancelled because overnight rain has caused the site to become "unsafe", say organisers.
The West Midlands and Warwickshire Game and Country Fair was set to take place at Arbury Hall, Nuneaton, for the first time having moved from Ragley Hall.
Organisers said they were concerned by the standing water in the car parks. Traders are being towed off the site.
Over 10,000 people were expected to attend the two-day event.
The event's manager, Carl Cox, said the cost of the cancellation would run into the "tens of thousands".
Mr Cox said: "The deluge yesterday and last night made the carparking fields and areas totally impractical and unsafe so we had no option but to cancel earlier this morning.
"[The car parks] are under water now. Yesterday they were manageable and we put tonnes of chippings down to make sure it was safe for the general public.
"But last night has tipped us over the edge.
"An event like this takes a year to plan.
"Hopefully we'll be back at the same time next year. All we have to do is pray for some good weather."
