Postby dutchman » Tue Aug 21, 2012 2:03 pm

Three men have been arrested in connection with the cable thefts that caused huge disruption to rail services from Nuneaton on Tuesday morning.

The men were arrested by Warwickshire Police shortly after 1.40am on Tuesday after officers were alerted to a signal failure in the Stockingford area of Nuneaton.

The police helicopter and a sniffer dog were used to trace the suspected offenders.

They were eventually arrested nearby.

All three men are from Nuneaton and are currently being questioned.

The damage to the railway line caused severe disruption to services during the rush hour as engineers worked to repair the line.

Rail passengers experienced delays of up to 20 minutes between Nuneaton and Birmingham New Street.
