Emmerdale star Tom Lister will be in Nuneaton town centre later this month – to signal a new era for the former Marks and Spencer store. As reported in the Telegraph, the prominent building, which has stood empty for 18 months, is being taken over by Poundland, branded as Europe’s biggest discount retailer.
Mr Lister, who plays Carl King in the popular Emmerdale TV series, will perform the official opening on August 18 (10am), when he will also be handing out shopping vouchers.
Poundland already has an outlet in Nuneaton, at nearby Abbey Street, and a company spokesman said: “That will remain open, while 15 additional jobs will be created in the new store.”
