A promise has been made to repair or replace all the play equipment that has been removed or taken out of action in Abbey Fields by the start of the school summer holidays.
Abbey Fields play area was upgraded back in 2000 as part of the Play Area Improvement Programme, but due to its age and condition it is acknowledged that some of the play equipment now needs upgrading, as we reported on last week’s front page.
Even though Warwick District Council will repair and replace these identified pieces of play equipment, it says a more all encompassing refurbishment of the play area is required. The council currently manages 49 play areas across the district, and has recently carried out a play area review.
The review identified that the district is well provided with the number of play areas but many will need upgrading over the following ten years.
It has been estimated that £1.67m is required to carry out this upgrade.
