Wellesbourne Wings and Wheels is returning to its traditional Fathers Day slot this year, taking place this Sunday at Wellesbourne airfield.
Crowds will get to watch the fast taxi of the retired RAF V bomber Avro Vulcan XM655, as well as enjoying other attractions including pleasure flights around the local area in a biplane, fly-pasts from a Gloster Meteor and a de Havilland Vampire, as well as classic car and military vehicle displays.
The crew on the day helping taxi the Vulcan XM655 will be an RAF-retired Squadron Leader David Thomas who has flown the world’s only airworthy Vulcan bomber, Wing Commander Mike Pollitt, and Barry Masefield, a veteran of the missions in the Falklands in 1982.
The XM655 was flown into Wellesbourne by the RAF on 11th February 1984 and has been located there ever since.
