Regrettably it can't happen here as it was the previous Labour government which first raised the minimum pension age for both men and women while the Trade Union movement rolled over and played dead. The Tories raised it slightly more but Labour has not said it will reverse even the changes made by the Tory government let alone their own.
Many people are also oblivious that raising the minimum retirement age affects a whole raft of other benefits such as bus passes, heating allowance, rent rebates and Poll Tax relief.
The UK is now a third-world country compared to the rest of europe with regard to its treatment of the elderly and infirm.
