And I thought this particular brand of fraud was dead and buried by now?

ACS: Law no longer exists and as far as I can tell Andrew Crossley is not involved in this case in any way, nor is any major law firm.

It is known that 02/Be There once again failed to contest the application to reveal customer details although they could easily have done so.

A warning to any O2/Be There subscribers who are reading this, you could still receive a blackmail demand even if you have never shared a file online in your life. These demands are sent entirely at random and it's irrelevant whether you have ever downloaded or uploaded porn. Standard advice is that you send a strongly worded denial and refuse to enter into any further dialogue as anything you add will be twisted and used as an admission of guilt.

It's at times like this I'm glad I'm with Carphone Warehouse!

I've just learned that Andrew Crossley has been suspended from practicing law for two years and ordered to pay £76,000 in costs to the Solicitors Regulatory Authority. In light of that you'd think no solicitor would be dumb enough to follow his example but apparently at least one of them is!

Coincidentally the Clerk of Court in this particular case resigned from law firm Davenport Lyons when she discovered they were involved in similar activity. All three judges involved in the case have impeccable credentials.
