POLICE in Coventry have joined the hunt for violent escaped prisoner Andrew Farndon.
Officers are contacting his friends, family and known associates amid fears he could return to his home city.
Father-of-two Farndon, 26, was still at large last night after a dramatic escape from hospital in Suffolk.
He lived in Foleshill until he was jailed in 2007 for a hammer attack in Coventry city centre.
Coventry police have been put on alert as part of a nationwide manhunt and members of the public have been warned not to approach him.
Farndon escaped as he was taken to hospital after stabbing himself in the shoulder. A waiting gunman threatened prison guards before the pair fled together.
