Coventry Blaze have signed veteran Swedish forward Peter Nylander and have allowed British defenceman David Phillips to join a Danish club.
The 36-year-old last played for Czech club HC Litvinov and is set for his Blaze debut against Nottingham Panthers this weekend.
Head coach Paul Thompson said: "I want a guy who's going to help the young guys understand what it takes.
"His pedigree is higher than anybody that's currently in our team."
Thompson told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire the approach from Denmark for David Phillips was timely.
"I always said to David from day one that if someone came in from Europe I wouldn't stand in his way," he said.
"He has a great opportunity to go and play for a top team in Europe and I have the opportunity to shake the bag because I think offensively is where I need a bit more scoring and creativity."
